What to Expect

During your first session we will explore your current concerns and get to know eachother. Research has shown that success in therapy depends in part on your relationship with your therapist. Our therapists pride themselves on providing a respectful, safe environment for their clients. Your therapist will discuss and negotiate your treatment plan with you to help you make the changes to improve and enhance your life.

We adhere to a practice that is bound by strong ethics and a belief that everyone has the power within themselves to make change.

Appointments for individual counselling typically go for 50 minutes, while couples counselling sessions may be longer.

Fees and rebates

Fees vary from clinician to clinician and will differ depending on length of session and whether counselling is for an individual or a couple.

Medicare rebates are available if you have a referral (Mental Health Plan) from your GP.

Medicare will offer a rebate for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. If you do not have a referral, you might be able to get a rebate from your private health insurance. If you do want to use private health insurance instead of medicare, please check with your insurer if you have psychology covered.

Please note that no referral is required to see a psychologist but is required in order to receive a medicare rebate.

  • You can receive a rebate from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year, if you have a Mental Health Plan from your GP.

  • We are offering both face-to-face and telehealth (phone or zoom) sessions. Ideally we would like to meet you in person at least for the first session but understand if there are circumstances that make that difficult for you.

  • We offer some evening and Saturday appointments but due to demand these often must be booked months in advance.

  • We understand that sometimes, having to cancel can’t be helped. However, due to long waitlists we want to be able to accommodate as many people as possible. We therefore ask you to give us 48 hours notice, otherwise a cancellation fee will be charged.
